National Theatre – Oliver House Lighting

Olivier House Lighting

The Olivier Theatre is the largest of the three theatres in the National and following on from the success of the Lyttelton Theatre houselighting installation, Push The Button were asked to design a LED solution for the lighting.

The existing system comprised of a selection of downlights and feature lights, including some Par 36 Pinspots which created a “Candle Flame” effect on the side walls. Push The Button worked with the National Theatre Lighting Resources Team to design a solution which used products from GDS, Erco and the Par 36 Pinspots were replaced with Gantom One Pinspots. All of the luminaires were driven by GDS ArcPro drivers to give the dimming performance the venue required.

The installation was carried out by the Push The Button team working nights over a pre-determined period to carry out all of the works without any interruption to the venues busy schedule. The finished result gives the National Theatre all of benefits of reduced energy consumption that LED technology offers, without comprising any of the integrity of the original architectural lighting design.
